The NAPS Leadership, in Collaboration with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), Organized a National Orientation Programme on the Tax Reform Bills, Featuring the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, alongside Other Distinguished Stakeholders.
In furtherance of our commitment to promoting informed student leadership and active civic engagement, the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS), in collaboration with the National Association of Nigerian Students (NANS), organized a National Orientation Programme on the Tax Reform Bills. The programme featured the Chairman of the Presidential Committee on Fiscal Policy and Tax Reforms, Mr. Taiwo Oyedele, alongside other distinguished stakeholders, policymakers, student leaders, and participants from across the country.
The primary objective of the programme was to educate student leaders on the proposed Tax Reform Bills, providing them with a clear understanding of the rationale behind the reforms, their objectives, and the expected benefits for Nigeria’s economy and citizens. The orientation also sought to dispel misconceptions surrounding the reforms while encouraging informed dialogue and constructive participation by the student community.
During the interactive session, participants gained valuable insights into how the reforms are designed to simplify Nigeria’s tax system, promote transparency and accountability, reduce the tax burden on low-income earners, improve revenue generation, encourage business growth, and strengthen the nation’s economic development. The programme also highlighted the direct and indirect impact of the reforms on education, youth development, employment opportunities, and national prosperity.
The engagement further served as a platform for student leaders to ask questions, express concerns, and make recommendations on issues affecting students and young Nigerians. This interactive dialogue strengthened mutual understanding between policymakers and the student constituency while fostering trust and collaboration.
Through this initiative, NAPS reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring that Nigerian students are not only beneficiaries of government policies but are also well-informed stakeholders who actively contribute to national discourse and policy development. We remain dedicated to promoting civic education, policy awareness, and constructive engagement on issues of national importance.
