A Kwara-born student leader, Comr. Jimoh Ibrahim Ajadi, has been elected as the National President of the National Association of Polytechnic Students (NAPS) after scoring 103 out of 191 votes in a closely contested national convention that brought together delegates and stakeholders from polytechnics, monotechnics, and colleges of technology across Nigeria.
His emergence signals the beginning of a new phase for the association, as he assumes leadership with a commitment to advancing students’ welfare, strengthening institutional unity, and driving meaningful reforms within the polytechnic education sector.
Speaking shortly after his declaration, the newly elected president expressed deep appreciation to God and to all stakeholders, mentors, leaders, executives, senators, comrades, supporters, and the entire polytechnic student community for the confidence reposed in him.
Describing his victory as a collective achievement, Comr. Jimoh stated that the mandate belongs to every student who believed in the vision of a stronger, more united, and progressive NAPS. He noted that the victory represents a call to greater responsibility, selfless service, and transformational leadership.
He further appreciated all who supported his aspiration through prayers, encouragement, resources, and unwavering commitment throughout the electioneering process, assuring them that their sacrifices would not be taken for granted.
The new NAPS President reaffirmed his commitment to implementing his administration’s five-point agenda, which includes Welfare and Advocacy, Educational Reform and Policy Engagement, Unity and Institutional Strengthening, Capacity Building and Empowerment, as well as Strategic Partnerships and Innovation.
According to him, his administration will prioritize transparency, accountability, inclusiveness, and purposeful representation while defending the rights and interests of polytechnic students across the country.
He also extended an olive branch to fellow contestants, supporters, and stakeholders, emphasizing that the election is over and that it is time for all members of the association to unite toward the common goal of building a stronger and more effective NAPS.
Comr. Jimoh concluded by pledging to justify the confidence reposed in him through dedicated service, visionary leadership, and unwavering commitment to the advancement of polytechnic education in Nigeria
